Having never been driven on the road, this special edition Porsche 911 Carrera offers up a unique opportunity for diehard fans of the German automaker
THIS Porsche 911 Carrera is one of a kind.
But not just its physical modifications, or the fact that it is one of just 51 special edition custom models ever made.
What makes this silver sports car really unique is the fact that it has remained almost entirely untouched since its manufacture in 1993.
The owner of the race-prepared, rare Type 964 Carrera RSR wanted to keep the car in such pristine condition, it has never even been washed.
In fact, since its original purchase it has barely been driven and has spent the large majority of its life in a private collection.
The vehicle’s odometer displays just 10km (approximately 6 miles), all of which would have been clocked in testing before the car was delivered to its original owner.
To be auctioned off in Italy by RM Sotheby’s for an estimated £1.85 million, the Porsche provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for diehard fans of the German brand.
Bolstered with a 3.8 litre, 375 horsepower RSR-specific engine, the luxury race car is capable of 0-60mph in just 3.7 seconds.
One of 51 in a series, this particular RSR was delivered with numerous creature comforts, compared to the usually stripped down race cars.
Finished with Polar Silver Metallic paint, it is trimmed in Guards Red leather across the competition seats, headlining, upper and lower dashboard, steering column and steering wheel, door caps, and even the bolt-in roll cage.
The Can Can Red carpeting and Schroth six-point racing harnesses were colour-matched, while the silver-faced instruments were surrounded with silver-grey leather, as were the door handles.
The special Porsche will be auctioned off in Villa Erba, Italy on May 27.
